Vancouver - Toronto - Zurich -Budapest

A long day, but a smooth journey. Our flight from Vancouver was very early, so we left the house at 3:30am. No worries about traffic at that time! We had desided to splurge and go Business class for the flights over to Europe. So it made our journey very comfortable. I got a good sleep on the Swiss Air flight from Toronto to Zurich. And although we only had about 1 hour connection in Zurich, we made it through with time to spare. This was our first time with the new Entry/Exit system in Europe, luckily the lineups weren't long when we went through.

A bit of a wait for luggage at Budapest airport. Then we found our driver for the 30 minute drive into town. It was just after 10am when we arrived at the Zenit Palace hotel, so we waited in their comfortable lobby till our room was ready about noon.

I left Ian to have a nap and I went out for a walk along the pedestrian shopping street Vaci Utca. I went as far as the Great Hall Market, which is a huge covered market (mainly food) in a beautiful old building. Then part way across the ornate Szabadsag bridge to take some pictures, before walking back to our hotel.

Then Ian joined me for another walk along the Danube to the Chain bridge. It's a nice afternoon, a mix of sun & cloud in the low 20s.

We decide to have an early dinner of goulash soup, and get to bed early. Hopefully have a good sleep and adjust to the time change.
